A truly shocking political sex scandal

You won't believe it!!!

SHockiNG!

OK, I'm sorry but it's becoming increasingly harder to get people to read posts about how we can all help each other. So I resorted to a tactic. Please forgive me.

It's just that - Five Ways To Help Your Community Right Now - does not get clicks. And we need more of that and less rage bait in my honest opinion. So please forgive me, but also, please keep reading!

First of all: Fireworks are on sale right now and it's already been a terrible week for many. So I'm encouraging people to share this and take a pledge to not let off private fireworks.

Empathy Not Explosives

Pledge not to terrorise your neighbours with fireworks this year! Here are all of the reasons why private fireworks displays should be banned. Please feel free to share any of this! We want to spread the word - read more here.

Other things you can do for your community this week!

Stand with Pike, Stand with Anna and Sonya: Pike River advocates Anna Osborne and Sonya Rockhouse are heading to Wellington to lobby the government on strengthening our health and safety laws in the workplace in memory of Anna's husband Milton and Sonya's son Ben.

Support them by buying a bumper sticker for $10+$2.90 or by giving a koha (make sure you say it's a koha in your bank transfer). Account name: Stand With Pike. Account number: 38-9018-0368613-00. Then send a message to the Stand with Pike page.

Shine a Light of Hope this Christmas with the Wellington City Mission. Give a koha to have a star on the waterfront in your name, your family's, or your business's name.

Wellington Women's House have asked for donations to help them support women through Christmas. Donate via their bank account: Wellington Women’s House 03-0578-0919195-001. Or donate online here. How nice would it be if these wonderful women could have a Christmas gift? They've been through so much, I think that would be awesome.

Protect each other from preventable diseases. Nurse Cat has some great updates about the measles outbreak. Get immunised and stay safe. Follow her here.

Actions for Sudan

According to UN officials, Sudan is in “one of the worst humanitarian nightmares in recent history." On the 15th of April, 2023, fighting broke out in Khartoum between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and a powerful paramilitary faction, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Clashes are spreading across Sudan, and the civilian population is caught in the middle.

With thousands reported killed, 5.6 million driven from their homes and 25 million people in need of aid, the impact of this conflict on Sudan and the region cannot be overstated.

Sign the petition: #HandsOffSudan - Protect Civilians in Sudan NOW
