FNC - What is worse AI or going to an arcade with children

Welcome to Friday Night Chats! First week of the school holidays is almost over. Thank God for that. It’s been such a busy time. I did plan to publish two pieces and Friday Night Chats but I was just too busy. But we made it to Friday - woohoo! Let’s chat.

As I write this I’m trying to entertain four kids. It’s fun haha. I took them to the arcade which is the shittiest most expensive school holiday activity. The worst.

As you read this I will hopefully be with no kids at the Wellington Tattoo Convention (it’s on all weekend!).

Next week, I am excited about the new Dowse exhibition Flaming Star. I mean:

Flaming Star wrangles with the dark undercurrents of ‘The West,’ queerness, desire, and the outright camp. Think Liberace in dusty chaps, horny yearning for country film stars, haunted mansions, and cowboys saddled on gyrating mechanical bulls.

Be still my beating heart! Next week I’m also going to Darkfield: SÉANCE + FLIGHT next week which I’m very excited about. It’s nice to finally have something to look forward to after weeks of sickness.

It feels like Stuff has been going hard on the rage bait this week - what with that absolutely ridiculous open letter to Jacinda Ardern by some old dude who was basically saying he’s upset about having to see her face on books?
